Harrison Sunflower Festival | The Fraser Valley Sunflower Trail

In the quest for the perfect selfie, one must travel the distance and go to great lengths, especially if it involves sunflowers. Thankfully, there’s a spot in Harrison where you can go for just that.

Back for the second year in a row, the fun takes place from August 1st through to September 15th at the Harrison Sunflower Festival. With close to 20-acres of beautiful blooming sunflowers in 35 different varieties, it’s the only festival of its kind in BC and surely a sight to see! Stroll through pathways of 12 to 15-foot Mammoth Grey Stripes or get up close and personal with the 6-8-foot Sunrich sunflowers. Plus, this year a new addition of 54 varieties of dahlias and a field of u-pick Harrison corn are available for guests to experience.

As always, the Harrison Sunflower Festival provides visitors with countless photo opportunities and props such as an operational windmill, vintage bicycle, face cut-outs, and plenty more ‘selfie’ spots. If you visit on a weekend you can get a free ride through the fields. Did we mention besides the cool photo opps there are games taking place? Bring out your competitive side with a game of “giant” Jenga, Yardzee, tic-tac-toe, checkers and more.

Cap off the day with cold drinks, ice cream or sweet treats in the special covered area where food trucks will be on-site daily. Don’t forget to pick your own batch of sunflowers on the way out or snag a sunflower-inspired gift so you can bring the feels and essence of the field back home with you!

In partnership with the Harrison Sunflower Festival, together they have brewed the ultimate summertime beer – the Harrison Sunflower Saison!

Hand-crafted with malted Sunflower seeds, this Saison is a celebration of the beautiful fields, mountain views and the towering sunflowers at the Harrison Sunflower Festival. This beer has an earthy, herbal and grassy character that compliments the rustic and subtly spicy flavour from the Belgian Saison yeast. Experience the sunniest of Saison!

The Harrison Sunflower Saison is available exclusively on tap at the Old Yale Brewing and is extremely limited, so make sure to get a taste while supplies last. Cheers!

Taves Family Farm – “The Patch” & Applebarn Offerings

The Fraser Valley Sunflower Trail - Taves Family Farm

The Fraser Valley Sunflower Trail – Taves Family Farm

One of our favourite stops along The Fraser Valley Sunflower Trail is Taves Family Farms! What started nearly 30 years ago, Taves Family Farm and the Applebarn are once again bringing the ultimate family farm-fun experience this summer season. From farm animals, pony and hayrides, to fresh and slushie cider, Taves only keeps adding on the fun! As of August 16th, all the Applebarns offerings including their newest attraction, the sunflower patch is open for business!

Guests can either take a hayride to the Sunflower Patch or enjoy a short 5-minute saunter to the fields where you’ll pass rows and rows of different apple varieties. Spanning over a 1/4 acre and pollinated by local bees, these vibrant yellow flowers are bringing a little extra sun to the farm. The main sunflower varieties you’ll find are Mardi Grass, Ring of Fire, Autumn Beauty, and Dwarf Sunspot.

Sunflower ‘Border’ at Campbell’s Gold Honey Farm & Meadery

Next stop on the Fraser Valley Sunflower Trail is serving up some buzzworthy business, Campbell’s Honey Farm and Meadery are giving visitors much more than a taste of honey this season. Although not as vast as some of the neighbouring fields, this quaint farm and Meadery looks to welcome visitors in to see their beautiful sunflower border that has been planted just for the bees.

Mike and Judy Campbell owners of the 8-acre farm, including an apiary, offer off-farm honeybee pollination services to local growers with a focus on honey and honey wine (mead) production. The country store which first opened back in 2007, has provided a space for locals to buy various honeys, honey wines, beeswax soaps, candles, polishes, and much more.
Be sure to stop by to get your fix for ‘all things honey’ and then cap off your sweet visit by taking a meander around the gardens. Who knows, maybe you’ll ‘bee’ lucky enough to see these busy hive workers in actions.

Maan Farms – Abbotsford Sunflower Festival & Country Experience

The Fraser Valley Sunflower Trail – Mann Farms Abbotsford Sunflower Festival

From August 16th to September 1st, Maan Farms will be hosting the Abbotsford Sunflower Festival.

This brand-new event will feature plenty of opportunities to capture your ideal Instagram-worthy shots. There will also be a premium U-Pick sunflower field where guests have the option to snip their own flowers to take home and enjoy.

Once you’re done frolicking in the sun, grab a wine tasting flight and some of Mama Maan’s flavorful Indian dishes and treats, including the infamous butter chicken, samosas and their newest menu item tornado potatoes!

Your admission also includes everything that Mann Farms has to offer including their Petting Zoo, Barnyard Adventure Land, Jumping Pillow, Giant Play Fort, and their Tire Crawl. Talk about the perfect day out!

Baker and is the first demonstration farm of its kind in all of Canada.
