Last year, we debuted a new summertime tradition: the Harrison Sunflower Festival. Featuring 5+ acres of the iconic flower, it was a huge success. On August 1, the Harrison Sunflower Festival returns for its second year — this time, with the addition of a massive field of dahlias. In total, there will be 20 acres of flowers: 54 varieties of dahlias and 35 varieties of sunflowers! Our other additions include a giant pumpkin patch and a field of u-pick Harrison corn. You can also purchase u-pick Sunrich Orange sunflowers, cut sunflowers and field flowers, sunflower-themed gifts, and tulip and daffodil bulbs. You’ll find perfect picture-taking props: swing sets, a windmill, a vintage bicycle, and face cut-outs. Enjoy outdoor lawn games like bolaball, “giant” Jenga, dominoes, tic-tac-toe, and checkers. Weekends include the Rotary Club of Harrison Fraser train, giving free rides through the fields. Local food trucks will be on site daily, and you can enjoy refreshments in our covered area. Bring your furry friend too: we welcome on-leash pets!
“The success of last summer’s inaugural Harrison Sunflower Festival exceeded all expectations,” says our festival co-founder Kate Onos-Gilbert. “It was so gratifying to welcome thousands of families, couples, and individuals to our fields, and to see them marvel at the bounty of seasonal beauty that Harrison produces at this time of year. The festival has grown so much since last year, too — so I encourage those who attended last year to make a return visit.” The Harrison Sunflower Festival runs every day from August 1 to September 15 (hours vary; check website for full details). Location is 41310 Yale Road. Ticket and season-pass prices vary for individuals, families and bus groups; children five and under are admitted free.
