Capturing some of the most special memories in our Sunflower fields is one of our favourite parts of the festival each year. Meet Hannah, our second in-field photographer from Hannah Vanwerkhoven Photography. We met up with Hannah and talked about a few of her favourite experiences, memories, and areas in the garden from this past season.

Tell us a little about yourself!

Hi, I’m Hannah! I am a photographer based out of Hope, BC. When I’m not taking photos, I spend as much time exploring the outdoors with my husband and one-year-old daughter as we can. My photography style is capturing candid moments and photographing couples, families, weddings and squishy little newborn babies are all my specialty. It’s always an honor to be a part of those big, special, and intimate moments.

What was your favourite prop at the festival to take photos with?

My favorite prop would have to be the steps. This made for very special close moments for the families, and couples! The swings are also so fun for the kids and couples!

Do you have a favourite memory while taking photos with the families?

A favorite memory of mine has to be the surprise proposal I had, as well as a few engagement sessions! Another would be photographing a long-time family friend’s kids and grandkids who have all grown up now, fun to reconnect with something like this.

Lastly, what was your favourite part of the garden to take photos in?

It is a tie between the Sunrich Sunflowers, the ones you can squish right into and have all around your head, and the Dahlias at the back of the fields with the sun just going down behind the hills in the background!

Check out some of Hannah’s photos she captured!

We can’t wait to see your smiling faces again next summer. Until then, make sure to reach out to Hannah to continue capturing all of your family and friends’ special moments in life.
